This is on my mind

Gilbert and Sullivan sometimes had a strained working relationship, partly caused by the fact that each man saw himself allowing his work to be subjugated to the other's, and partly caused by the opposing personalities of the two—Gilbert was often confrontational and notoriously thin-skinned (though prone to acts of extraordinary kindness), while Sullivan eschewed conflict.[67] In addition, Gilbert imbued his libretti with "topsy-turvy" situations in which the social order was turned upside down. After a time, these subjects were often at odds with Sullivan's desire for realism and emotional content

Landru, Honorary Chairman of Santa Clara Plays Fair

Landru believes in a society without city investment in stadiums. Bailey's guru http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bhueml6MqI&feature=related

Would You, Could You?

Would You, Could You vote for a school board candidate who does not send kids to public school, but claims to be a public school volunteer? Who serves as a board member of a group whose chairperson seeks district support for her private organization that employs her? Would you, could you vote for an incumbent board member who attempting to block a hearing on her own bad conduct dealing with school employees? Who voted to support the stadium and then encourage hit pieces on her colleagues based on their support for the stadium?

Would you vote for a candidate who is trying to get school district funding for her own private school operation, and is lying on her website about district test scores?

Would you listen to a guy who emails people about school board candidates, but uses pictures of kids getting beat up by football players?

The Schools, it is the schools cutey pies

Why would Santa Clara Plays Fair decide to target Patricia Flot, Anna Strauss, and Andrew Ratermann?

None of them are on the city council.

The fact is that the support going to the schools, and much of the RDA money going to the schools in a shorter window of time than if there was no stadium development, is what made the difference in Measure J's overwhelming victory.

The goal of Santa Clara Plays Fair is punishment. Pure and simple.

Steve Stavis will be on the chopping block if Bendis, Koltermann, and Sadaat get past the Green Zone and manage to get into the school board chamber as members.

That is what this is all about grabbing power and putting on political termination squads to any elected official or community member who dared to support Measure J.

Matthews is going through Santa Clara like the Third Army and a majority of citizens are begging Mahan for signs.

So the school board looks like a easier convoy to hit.

Trouble is when you have a chairman at Plays Fair who is looking for subsidies for private education groups that she works with, it may be a little bit too much of a puzzlement why Bailey is swearing off his purchase of Ghurka dancing bells and trying to send out potty mouth messages about the school board.

Should not do it, would not be prudent.

See this creepy guy

This creepy guy is Bill Bailey who used pictures of small children being beat up by football players to campaign against Measure J. The Chairperson is a dimwit named Michele Ryan. Ryan is working to get private school subsidies from Santa Clara Unified for her homework center.

Kolterman and Saadat are running for school board and are working to help Ryan and have refused to disavow Mr. Creepy.

Bendis and Kolterman Make Over, decide to get glamerous for school board election

Stampy decides to go for broke! Tells Kolterman and Bendis to go glamerous and do the following campaign photo!!!

Our good city has walls and needs people on those walls

Some people cannot handle the truth.

The truth is that outside the walls of our good community there are bad guys. People like the Koltermouth and Adela the Liar. Yep, check out her website where she claims that our school district lags behind ALL SANTA CLARA COUNTY SCHOOLS IN API SCORES. The fact is in at least three cases including San Jose Unified, Santa Clara Unified is well ahead, with at least six schools meeting or exceeding the state standards. Of course, Adlia is a liar and always has been.

Now we have people like Mr. Ratterman who tells us to be nice and friendly in the campaign ethics mode of Judy Nadler. Nothing doing. In point of fact, the Lantern was founded a week after the November 2006 election and weeks after Andrew kept telling us in 2006 how much he liked Todd Fitch and wanted him treated well.

We have come to admire Fitch as well so maybe Andy was right.

But, this good government lecture we have gotten from Andrew about the November 2010 election really would bore a turtle. In point of fact, we are writing what we write because we have our view which has nothing to do with anyone else.

So we can get goody two shoes response from Mr. Ratterman about the need to respect all candidates, but we are not into anything but shining the light in our manner and our way.

The Acme Nasty Campaign kit bought by Kolty and the other zombies

If you are precinct walking and you hear Strauss or Flot go beep beep

Just step aside or might end up in a heap.

Their campaigns are like the Road Runner, Road Runner runs on the road all day.

Even Dr Kolty can't make him change his ways.

Road Runner, the coyote's after you. Road Runner,

if he catches you you're through. Road Runner, Kolty the coyote is after you.

Road Runner, if he catches you you're through.

That coyote is really a crazy clown, When will he learn he can never mow him down?

Poor little Road Runner never bothers anyone, Just runnin' down the road's his idea of having fun.

New blog on city budget

Carolyn Schuk has put together the following blog

It may be time to put Sandoval and Lincecum on the block

The Giants and the White Sox are beginning to lose steam. The Giants cannot seem to beat the Padres and the White Sox are getting further and further behind the Twins.

Both Sandoval and Lincecum are not producing and perhaps it is time to think off selling them off.

When Pablo and Tim are hot, so are the Giants. But lately they are not.

Advice to College Trustees

When you decide to run for mayor positions and try to save nasty school board members, give a little whistle!

How do you describe Albert Gonzalez's tenure on the school board

One of Ina's many talents, I think Albert can talk while she is drinking water.

The New York Answer

I have seen Dr. Bendis in action before. She is VERY PASSIONATE. That may have made a lot of people very uncomfortable. If you understand how political the school district has become, you could understand Dr. Bendis' frustation. BTW, Dr. Bendis is from New York as well, so you know what they said about New Yorkers..... I will vote for Dr. Bendis. I believe she is a great addition to the school board. I believe she will promote honesty and openess. She always asks tough questions.

As for teamwork, there is only one Dr. Bendis, so don't give me crap about not being able to perform teamwork because of one person. There are 6 others that can override her vote.

Bedbugs are from New York, too

Why should Anna Strauss be elected to the School Board?

Anna Strauss is running for the school board.

Why people think she is an opponent of Ina Bendis is beyond me.

Trustees run in at large positions for trustee areas. So, in point of fact, Strauss is running for her election and the voters could elect her at the expense of Flot or Bendis, or Strauss could get more votes than Flot or someone else and Koltermann, the private school patron could be making decisions affecting kids on the school board.

Strauss has an excellent resume for Santa Clara schools. Now the anonymous nitwits who have writing attack ads against Strauss bring up that she received money from Measure J.

Measure J won.

I do know that Ms. Strauss apparently has done volunteer and community work for the schools for a long, long time, and is supported by many parents and leaders with the school district community.

Seems good to me.

One question for the endless attacks people throw at Strauss and others. Why are they scared to put their name to their words? We do.

One the subject of money, Debbie Bress, Brian Darby, Ketra Oberlander, all received 900 dollar payments from No on J.

Did Ketra Oberlander reveal this when she spoke?

Also when No on J used two slate cards, they refused to list that on their forms which is a FPPC violation subject to a fine.

But what does the Mission City Lantern have to do with the schools?

Not much. It is just we support money going to the schools, we support the efforts of Mike to get his area into the school district, and we think when Two Ton Ben decides to attack a former superintendent, Mr. Hernandez is showing how he should not be drinking before attending meetings.

Ps, before we hear all about our backing school board people, remember we support recalls and lawsuits against school board members in Santa Clara.

We think Strauss is a good candidate for peace on the board and for helping the kids.

As for Ina, she is lucky the Grand Jury is not investigating her.

Larry Sacks to receive Golden Lantern

The Lantern would like to award a Golden Lantern to long time journalist, and community activist Larry Sacks for his dedication to informing the people of Santa Clara.

Bendis will find new role

Ina Bendis will be focusing on her new role as Yente, the Matchmaker in the revival of Fiddler of the Roof.

Ina, do not harrass the other cast members

Ina, respect the traditions and roles of a board member

Midnight to warn people of the slanders of Kolterman and Santa Clara Plays Fair

Listen my children and you shall hear
]Of the midnight ride to stop the zombie candidates
Bendis, Koilterman, Sadaat, and others
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five; Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.
He said to his friend, "If Kolterman, Bendis, and Sadaat
Come down the Alviso slough, slandering Anna Strauss
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,– One if by land, and two if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be, Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every Middlesex village and farm,
To warn them Debbie Bress is out on the street doing a lap dance
For the country folk to be up and to arm."
Then he said "Good-night!" and with muffled oarSilently rowed to the Charlestown shore, Just as the moon rose over the bay, Where swinging wide at her moorings lay The creek Dao of Adela with potato peelings and nasty emails
The fat Bailey eating the rats on board
The ones Kolterman is not play withA phantom ship, with each mast and spar Across the moon like a prison bar, And a huge black hulk, that was magnified By its own reflection in the tide.
Meanwhile, his friend through alley and street Wanders and watches, with eager ears, Till in the silence around him he hears The muster of men at the barrack door, The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet, And the measured tread of the grenadiers, Marching down to their boats on the shore.
Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church, By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread, To the belfry chamber overhead, And startled the pigeons from their perch On the sombre rafters, that round him made Masses and moving shapes of shade,– By the trembling ladder, steep and tall, To the highest window in the wall, Where he paused to listen and look down A moment on the roofs of the town And the moonlight flowing over all.
Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead, In their night encampment on the hill, Wrapped in silence so deep and still That he could hear, like a sentinel’s tread, The watchful night-wind, as it went Creeping along from tent to tent, And seeming to whisper, "All is well!" A moment only he feels the spell Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread Of the lonely belfry and the dead; For suddenly all his thoughts are bent On a shadowy something far away, Where the river widens to meet the bay,– A line of black that bends and floats On the rising tide like a bridge of boats.
Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride, Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere. Now he patted his horse’s side, Now he gazed at the landscape far and near, Then, impetuous, stamped the earth, And turned and tightened his saddle girth; But mostly he watched with eager search The belfry tower of the Old North Church, As it rose above the graves on the hill, Lonely and spectral and sombre and still. And lo! as he looks, on the belfry’s height A glimmer, and then a gleam of light! He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns, But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight A second lamp in the belfry burns.
A hurry of hoofs in a village street, A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark, And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet; That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light, The fate of Santa Clara schools who will be in decline
If Sadaat or Kolterman who choose private schools and lie
On their campaign statements take seats, with the support of
Bailey who uses kids in pictures, and does not like our schoolsAnd the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight, Kindled the land into flame with its heat. He has left the village and mounted the steep, And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep, Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides; And under the alders that skirt its edge, Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge, Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides.
It was twelve by the village clock When he crossed the bridge into Medford town. He heard the crowing of Bress after her drinking binge
With Kolterman dancing a jigAnd the barking of the farmer’s dog, And felt the damp of the river fog, That rises after the sun goes down.
It was one by the village clock, When he galloped into Lexington. He saw the gilded weathercock Swim in the moonlight as he passed, And the meeting-house windows, black and bare, Gaze at him with a spectral glare, As if they already stood aghast At the bloody work they would look upon.
It was two by the village clock, When he came to the bridge in Concord town. He heard the bleating of the flock, And the twitter of birds among the trees, And felt the breath of the morning breeze Blowing over the meadow brown. And one was safe and asleep in his bed Who at the bridge would be first to fall, With slanderous emails sent by Kolterman to all
You know the rest. In the books you have read How Sadaat all wrapped fell on her headHow the farmers gave them ball for ball, From behind each fence and farmyard wall, Chasing the Zombies down the El CaminoThen crossing the fields to emerge again Under the trees at the turn of the road, And only pausing to fire and load. So through the night rode Paul Revere; And so through the night went his cry of alarm To every Middlesex village and farm,— A cry of defiance, and not of fear, A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, And a word that shall echo for evermore! For, borne on the night-wind of the Past, Through all our history, to the last, In the hour of darkness and peril and need, The people will waken and listen to hear The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed, And the midnight message of Paul Revere

How can silly school board like Bendis or Craig Mann avoid censure?

Simply say,

TODAY IS MY FIRST DAY!

or blame it all on Momar, the foreign worker.

Advice to Craig Mann

When you have a desire to send nasty, potty math emails instead of working on the education gaps, give a little whistle!

As for Weiss, do you think you can teach something if you want to boss around teachers.

When you blog about blogging, maybe it is time for the pills

The Lantern is not a vessel for public policy discussions. San Jose Inside does that well.

We do believe that Politicon Valley is the most underrated blog, and that Daily Fetch is the best and best presented news blog and public affairs blog around.

The Lantern is the cranky and oily lamp of Diogenes searching for truth, and when we cannot find it, we make it up as we write.

Yes, we believe in pissing people off. There are two many empty suits like Chuck Reed and Petey Campbell that seem to function as holders of body fluid rather than people of substance.

Vic Ajlouny is a walking pile of sludge and Armando Gomez is more like burnt cookie dough than a leader.

People like Buck Polk and Gary Gillmor are senators of the old school, charm, grace and generous. Dale Warner is like the kind uncle you have always with a desire to be of help.

David Cohen and Clark Williams are true community leaders as is Kathleen and Christian, while the staff of Catapult are among the nicest and smartest people around.

Jude Barry has a mind of steel trap, and if he was a chess piece, he would be a knight, always ready to manuver, capture, and catapult to sucess.

Ed McGovern is Patton and Bradley of Generals, ready to smash through and bring every resource for victory,

Rich Robinson is smart, but I think he is also funny and with a great sense of charm.

Robinson is the Bobby Kennedy of campaign managers.

We have the best city staff in the valley in Santa Clara, in the Bay Area with a city council and school board of great knowledge. Chad Walsh is a fantastic trustee and truly a trustee,

Only one person is the Lantern's number one, but Patrica Mahan is the number one for the city.

Pat Kolstad, Mohammed Nadeem, and Teresa O'Neill are great advocates as is Chris Stampolis and Anna Song.

Aside from Larry and Jerry Marsalli, Brian Lowery, and Jim Lee, Eddie Souza joins them as the true voice of city. Lisa Gillmor is not only the smartest business person in town, but the smartest person in politics.

Jamie Matthews truly is a great leader, and so is Miles Barber, and his writers, Robert Haugh and Carolyn Schuck.

Nancy McFadden of PGE was always my first great boss, and Catherine Tompkison Graham like Steve Preminger is a great person whom the Dalai Lama also blessed for their inner strength and creative voice.

It is a great place to be alive.

Why are we are what we are.

People need to understand what the Lantern does to our pysche and why we do what we do

Kolterman and Sadaat urge non incumbents should get your support

Santa Clara Plays Fair urges you vote against incumbents on the school board. Here is us trying to make them feel they have equal time. SCPF and Kolterman urge a no vote on Bendis.

Unknown Candidates

How did Bendis and her allies recruit these candidates to run for Mayor, School Board, College Board?

Where did Sadaat and Koltermann get any support and a chance to be candidates?

After all, the Gong Show judges that met with Kolterman turned down Gene the Dancing machine in favor of Adela!

The First choice of the Koltermann, Bendis, Clique to run for Mayor of Santa Clara

Tony Clifton was approached by Santa Clara Plays Fair to run for Mayor. They figured that after another candidate suggested that Clifton run for the West Valley Board, or to oppose Flot and others, Clifton had as much viability. Clifton had agreed, or perhaps what will happen as the other candidate, or possibly Ina or Maggie will dress like Clifton and be a write in

Koltermann, Sadaat, Bendis, Wong, Pandit, and the Mr. "Non Viable" have found a consultant to hire

Team I HATE SANTA CLARA SCHOOLS AND CITY PEOPLE HAVE FOUND THEIR CAMPAIGN MANAGER
I hates City Council, Mayor, School Board, and College Board people. I am Mission City Sam, the rootin, tootin' No on J leader type that hates elected varmints, and college trustee varmints, and school board galloots!

Kolterman has a Sarah Palin response

How can a certified liar run for school board with kids in private school??

Well, I can see a Santa Clara Unified school from my house!
Ps, the stadium is going to cause earthquakes!

Bum of the Month

One question for the ringleader who recruited Kolterman and Sadaat, and people for WV Board, if you spent so much time getting the League of Extraordinary Nitwits together, why not spend time for positive change.

Transperancy?

Kolterman is on a board which has made secret payments to a slate mailer, or two slate mailers.
